چکیده

Herein, results of 5.2 GHz wideband indoor multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel measurements under the EU IST SATURN project are reported. Our investigation shows that for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) cases, the average power delay profiles fit the exponentially decaying curve quite well, therefore a simple wideband model for singleinput single-output (SISO) proposed in COST259 has been used in our model. Furthermore, the investigations show that the MIMO channel covariance matrix of each normalized tap of the impulse response could be well approximated by the Kronecker product of the covariance matrices seen from the transmitter and receiver respectively. Based on the above results, a wideband statistical model is presented. Monte-Carlo simulations show reasonably good agreement between the measured data and our model. Finally, we use this model to show some capacity characteristics of HiperLAN/2 channels in NLOS indoor scenarios.

Second order statistics of NLOS indoor MIMO channels based on 5.2 GHz measurements

Herein, results from measurements conducted by the University of Bristol are presented. The channel characteristics of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) indoor systems at 5.2 GHz are studied. Our investigation shows that the envelope of the channel for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) indoor situations are approximately Rayleigh distributed and consequently we focus on a statistical description of ...

Wideband Mimo Measurements of Outdoor Nlos Channels

The measurement results of the wideband wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels in outdoor environments are presented. Our wideband wireless MIMO channel sounder consists of four transmitters and eight receivers, and operates at a carrier frequency of 1.8 GHz with a bandwidth of 2.5 MHz. After obtaining the multipath delay profiles from the data collected in non-line-of-sight (N...

Non-line-of-sight identification in ultra-wideband systems based on received signal statistics

Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation can severely degrade the reliability of communication and localisation accuracy in indoor ultra-wideband (UWB) ‘location-aware’ networks. Link adaptation and NLOS bias mitigation techniques have respectively been proposed to alleviate these effects, but implicitly rely on the ability to accurately distinguish between LOS and NLOS propagation scenarios. A sta...

Spatial dispersion and performance evaluation of indoor MIMO channels at 2.25 GHz†

Channel capacity of a MIMO system is dependent not only on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) but also on spatial correlation among antenna elements. Therefore, the system design must rely on good propagation predictions. By using a ray tracing simulator, which considers reflections, penetrations and diffractions in 3-D space, we predict channel properties and evaluate capacity of 4× 4 indoor MIMO...
